sunday morning coming down

The other morning, it was a Sunday, I woke up Gently. I capitalized the word because it was just that cool.

It was nine o'clock when Sue and I pulled ourselves out

of bed. The sun came shouting through what was left of

orange, red, brown, and yellow leaves landing on drowzy

frosted white grass like a kid with a brand new cap gun.

The temperature had dropped and

Jack Frost had left his present on the lawn.

I just love that part of autumn.

My birthday is in November and it used to be a hateful time

because suddenly it was colder and I had to go back to school.

Now however it's all about a simple few moments of

reflection. Some mirror talk...

"Howdy Fellah, you kick ass."

Coffee in one hand and binoculars in the other

I went to the window to watch everything

wake up. I saw all these birds not to mention

red squirrels, gray squirrels, a couple of dogs, our cats

-- (Which are an entirely different story) -- all kinds of

life seemed to be rejoicing in the morning. We were,

all of us hanging out, and having breakfast together.

Seemed like every winter bird I knew plus some of the

'Heavy duty' summer fellahs were at the feeders.

Some crazy Woodpeckers, lots of Sparrows of different

Varieties, a gaggle of Cardinals, shit tons of Chickadees, and they

brought their cousins, the Nuthatches, oh and how could I

forget about Winter Wrens.

What's my point in telling you this?

Well here goes.

Gas just jumped up because Mr. Bush (he's not my president)

decided to do a little saber rattling with Iran again.

And the best guess that anyone has is that it's not

going back down, and even if it did what about

the environment?

Everywhere a person turns the negative stuff is

jumping down our throats, and an election is about to start.

Which means a lot of smear campaigns and no one likes that.

Not to mention winter is coming, and that means

below zero temperatures and ice storms.

If you look at it there's a bunch of things to be

freaked out about. Oh and I almost forgot

about that paranoid idea about 2012.

"A giant hippo shaped asteroid is barreling

down on us man."

But there is also a lot of neato

stuff still going on too.

Let's make a pact you and I.

Here is it.

Although, we will remain educated folks watching

the news, reading the paper;

we will not forget to add a healthy bit of that

all essential "Phuk It!" to the soup.

Not forget to smile,

not forget to watch the sunrise,

look for shooting stars, play with someone or thing,

buy a teddy bear, feed the birds.

Anything so long as we don't forget to laugh.

Don't forget to laugh.
BTW here is another little video we made this same Sunday.
